Do any of these have better academics than W&L?

Lehigh is a tad better for engineering. Bucknell is much better for business/finance/econ and has a stronger pipeline to The Street.

Lehigh doesn’t feel too far from Philly. It’s about one hour if traffic isn’t bad. I thought the campus was very attractive. My kid ended up wanting to be in a city, so didn’t apply, but I was impressed by the campus and academics. I think Lehigh is harder to get into than Bucknell.

Lewisburg is not scary. Bucknell is just in basic, rural central PA.

Are you kidding? Have you been there? The entirety of Route 15 north of Harrisburg up to the NY border is lined with porn stores and dive bars. It's long been a depressed area, but then fracking came in with a pretty scary bunch of guys coming up from TX and OK. Lewisburg and Williamsport is where they go for fun. Lovely area.

I just spit out my water reading this. You are so right. So out of place.

No, Lehigh is better for business/finance/econ and has a stronger pipeline to WS. Bucknell doesn't even have a finance major, Lehigh does.

Similar schools in many regards, but Lehigh is much better all around. Acceptance rate was around 25% this year.

I’d rank them this way:

Lehigh, Bucknell, lLafeyette

Dickinson , F&M

Muhlenbirg, Gettysburg

The differences between these schools are so miniscule as to be meaningless.

There really is minimal difference, but apparently a lot of Lehigh alum on this board. For whatever reason, Bucknell seems to be more popular in my city, which is not DC.

Not sure how much this will matter to this board but both schools have D1 wtestling programs. Bucknell's is fine. Lehigh's team is one of the top teams in the country historically. They have multiple All Americans every year and often guys who challenge for National titles.

How would you differentiate? What kind of student thrives there?
Lehigh tracks DI way more than Bucknell

A lot of what people already said - Lehigh is bigger, which just gives you more opportunities to meet different people. Bucknell always felt very homogenous to me- and quite bland. I just found Lehigh to be a more dynamic school with more interesting people and more opportunities. When I went there was a huge focus on the Greek system but I didn’t rush and neither did many of my friends - we had a great social life and a huge, diverse group of friends (we are all still friends and I see and talk to them often). When I went to visit my family members at Bucknell while they were there, I was always glad I chose Lehigh. I also think it’s a much prettier campus (but that’s just my opinion). Academically I would say Lehigh is better, better sports, etc, but it’s not such a huge difference, I would just say Lehigh has the edge on all that.

Leigh is a much harder admit than Bucknell from my kid's private. Bucknell has taken down to a 3.1 ED in the past 2 years. Lehigh has never gone below a 3.5 and generally requires a 3.7.

These are unhooked, non-athletes.
