The district has allowed an open drug market to exit for yeeeeeeears around it.

And you wonder why all sports teams want to bail on the city?

Have you been living under a rock or something? Leonsis committed to staying in DC months ago. The Redskins "bailed on the city" 25 years ago, and the Nationals aren't going anywhere.

Also, I'm guessing the study never actually bothered to check if the crime in the surrounding area actually affects law-abiding sports fans? Because it's completely irrelevant if it doesn't. That "open air drug market" (suburbanite speak for "black people I think I saw smoking a joint once") may cause crime but if it's hood rats robbing or beating up hood rats while Caps fans are unaffected...who cares?

"Hood Rats" who shoot guns present a real threat if Caps fans are nearby.
Bullets can't differentiate.

Bowser said she wanted Washington to be the nation’s “sports capital.”

But we’re having to settle for being the sports crime capital.

Um, is that supposed to be reassuring?

Avoiding downtown until the city does something.

“There are worse places” seems to have become DCs de facto motto.

Didn’t the mayor just increase policing downtown? the new safety measures are in full effect.

Has a law abiding Caps fan ever in the history of Chinatown been hit by a stray bullet? No. Are the odds of it happening astronomically smaller than getting hit by a car on their way home to their Ballston condo? Yes. OK cool, back to "who cares?"

Is a non-law abiding Caps fan one who’s been shot?

Increased policing is great but not really a big factor in DC. Criminals are carjacking and robbing places while wearing ankle monitors that are only monitored during business hours. DC also doesn't prosecute illegal firearms so fans need to be comfortable acting like they are walking through an old Western movie.

This list is hilarious. It also includes fan behavior. Cities more dangerous on this list are Denver, Toronto, Charlotte, etc.

Give me a break. I lived in Charlotte. I hardly felt unsafe at their arena.

"The report, which used data from NeighborhoodScout.com, CrimeGrade.org, and Reddit’s r/nba subreddit"

Lol. Might as well have polled the cowardly harpies from DCUM, who are afraid of their own shadows.

Why are there only 15 arenas listed when 29 arenas are used in the NBA? What a disgrace, and what a disgrace for Fox5 to publicize this garbage story and garbage information.

Oh no! A poor black person might assault my nostrils. I'm going to hide under my bed until Mayor Bowser forces all the poor people out of downtown.
