If Trump is convicted

Even that would be overturned in the appeals process. This case is a joke.

I totally agree. Of course - the appeals won't be heard until after the election - this is their goal.
They KNOW it will be overturned. The defense has dozens of grounds it can raise for an appeal. They simply want a conviction BEFORE the election so Joe can run on that.

Hopefully, the jury was paying attention and will listen closely to the closing argument of the defense. There was not crime and IF the jury thinks there was - the guilty party is Cohen.

I think Judge Merchan will treat him like Ordinary Citizen John Smith and if that's jail time, tough for Trump.

He might be sentenced to jail time, but it's highly unlikely he will actually serve any jail time. With a drawn-out appeals process, by the time all is said and done he'll either be president again (and therefore not subject to imprisonment) or nature will have taken its course.

Why can't he be jailed pending appeal?

He'd be a first-time offender and not considered a flight risk. That's what they'll say out loud anyway. The elephant in the room is the fact that he's a former president running for another term, with followers who are known to commit heinous crimes on his behalf.

No that won’t get overturned.

No this case is not a joke it is real in a court of law.

Not sure how you missed that.

Oh wait cult members are not bright

And if he wins
Steve Bannon on Trump’s Project 2025: We mock your fear, we want you to fear. There will be accountability. We are going to hold everyone who opposes Trump responsible. That will come with authority, the authority of Donald Trump

King Trump ugh

First time offender is irrelevant. The factors a court considers are flight risk/safety of community, and likelihood of success on appeal. He’s not a flight risk, but he is a danger and he has no good appellate arguments. Navarro is in jail while he appeals too because his appeal is stupid.

That’s the most relevant question.

Provisional ballot maybe, otoh the trump states do anything they can to limit how ballots not validated on day of election can be processed.

This comment is simply laughable.
There are more appellate arguments than there is evidence of a crime.

And, how is he a danger? Be specific..........

Threatening jurors and witnesses, sending mobs to attack congress, egging on his insane supporters to kill protesters. So many examples. I’m sure he has many appellate arguments, but they aren’t good ones. I’m sure you thought Navarros arguments were great too.

He did none of what you are claiming.
His appellate arguments are too numerous to list. Every day of the trial brought up several.
TBH - this judge should lose his job after this trial. It has been THAT bad.

A Trump conviction would provide further proof that a Republican will not be treated fairly in court in a state run by Democrats. As if it wasn’t already apparent. Every time a judge bangs his gavel in New York, another moving van heads off to Florida.
