This a clown question bro

I am so jealous. A big part of the struggle with showers for my 8 year old is her inability to shower quickly when it is called for. Even if I wash her hair for her to speed things along, she will space out while washing her body and just hang out in there. If we try to rush her, she gets irritable and fights us. It's so exhausting.

I want her to be showering daily before puberty starts but we are still struggling to get her into a routine that is compatible with days where she has activities. Sigh.

I always comment on these threads just to needle the hyper-cleaners.

My kid is in flag football after being in school all day for 1.5 hours 3 days a week. He takes a shower on those days. Yesterday, afterschool we went to the park for 1.5 hours and he ran like a tiger (yes on all 4s its impressive) through long grass for about 20 minutes. Tick check plus a shower.

He averages 5-6 showers per week because of activity. Kids, when playing properly, get sweaty and dirty and grassy and need to shower, especially during the summer months when its hot and during spring with the pollen.

If he has a lazy day around the house then he doesnt have to shower. It sounds like your kids need to be outside with the opportunity to get dirty more.

That is disgusting. Do you like your kid being known as the "smelly" kid in school? Of course YOU don't think they smell - you're used to it, because that's probably the stinky aroma of your home.

Some stank ass up in here

Yes we do it most nights. If there was a late night for some reason we might skip it because at some point sleep is more important. But that's the exception, not the rule. I will sometimes tell them it's a 3 minute shower night and to just put some soap on their body, rinse and get out. No washing hair.

I'm not as worried about them being perfectly clean as being in the habit. The people who only have their kids shower 1-3 times a week usually have to fight and argue with their kids to get it done. If it's just part of your nightly routine, they just do it. So I don't care if they wash perfectly head to toe with soap and a washcloth, because they are plenty clean as a baseline because they shower daily.

Im sorry you think only boys do the above.

Yes, skipping shower is very rare. If kid is up late + we have a sweaty activity planned for the next morning then maybe, but that's not common.

We also turn down most late evening commitments that would make it hard to shower and get to bed on time. Special occasions only.

I agree with this, but you might have cause and effect backwards. I have a kid who showers 3x a week because it's incredibly hard to get her in the shower-- it wears me down. She showers Sunday night and after the two nights a week she has sports. In the summer she showers daily because of swimming, and it's easier because she knows she has to shower after pool or beach and doesn't fight it. During the school year when she's coming straight from school or girl scouts or ballet, she will fight so hard it's just not worth it.

Yes. My boys stink and they always want hugs. I thought we had a mouse because there was a smell and it turned out one of them left shoes under the couch. Yes I force them to shower
