What center school are you trying to get into? Get the forms submitted by school first to review the weakness in the package. One year I found lots of errors in the student Info section. Example make sure your child is checked off as ESOL , is your child level II now or YS , make sure that’s listed. Get a test done discuss with private psychologist which test is better to counter the weak spots , but put together a cover letter to address the low verbal score and why your child needs to be out of the general classroom

The cover letter needs to be from you, the parent. The letter needs to address why the child’s needs can’t be met in the regular classroom. The parent knows their child the best and the parent is best positioned to detail the reasons the child cannot do well in the regular classroom. Those reasons are probably the most important part of the appeal packet, arguably more important than new test scores.

Then You can add in your cover letter that your child needs a stronger peer group to push them to their greatest potential. My child is in a classroom where everyone asks them for help , always wanting to be in his group during math competitions , always placing first/second and not being challenged by the kids. Always the teacher’s helper. So I had to address all of that when I wrote to the committee. If they don’t give them the level iv designation the child may not have access to all the advanced work that they need.
