With these scores
Cogat 141( 99% non verbal 99 q 92 verbal)
NNAT 123
Iready 85 math 82 reading

English is his second language . I don’t know how is HOPE Scores he is quite but have a problem in organization .
Would WISC help in his case !?
What shall I add to the appeal to help him get in .

85% math is concerning. Good luck.

The cogat is high, but nothing else is. Why do you think AAP is appropriate?

Have you considered Stanford Binet over WISC? What about CAS or Kaufman?

Why do you think that the regular classroom cannot meet your child’s needs?

Think about the answer to that question and write a letter with the details to submit with your appeal.

So do you think it's not worth the effort?
I know that the score may not be high enough, but my son is smart and is good at math, and I am really surprised by iready scores because he get full marks with bonus in every single math test at school .

My DC is in college now, but we appealed successfully with a Wisc many years ago. Her 3rd grade teacher said the AAP program was meant for kids like her then I told her how we were initially rejected based on disappointing Cogat score. These 2nd graders don’t understand the importance of the test they are taking. The WISC is administered one-on-one. I think it’s a better indicator and was the only item I submitted in our appeal.

NP. It’s always worth it to appeal if you think your child needs AAP. you have nothing to lose by submitting appeal.

May I know what was the score?

Actually I don’t hear before about these tests.
I’ll do my research
Thank you🙏

One more thing - I got the WISC so that we would have more info about our kid regardless. Her Cogat score confused me. She ended up performing slightly above normal on some categories of the WISC but scored the highest possible on a couple of other categories.

I appealed for both my kids, who did mediocre on the Cogat. One had extremely high scores across the board on the WISC, the other kid had some very high scores, some just very good. Teacher recommendations were great for both. The AAP Center near us is exceptional whereas the base school is mediocre. I would have appealed only for the one kid who did exceptionally well on the WISC if the base school had been good. Just something to consider.

before burning money on WISC, spend a few dollars on a WISC workbook, and then go for the WISC test. This workbook helps a lot to ace WISC:

The WISC helps more for low CoGAT than low iReady. For low iReady you want a good achievement test score like Kaufman.

Where can we do Kaufman test ? How much does it cost?
