Our daughter is a young nine, BB times, close to one A time, very good technique but speed is still developing. She tried out and was offered spots in each of the following sites/clubs. We would love candid feedback:
NCAP-West Bronze (2?)
NCAP-Burke Bronze 2
Machine Oak Marr HP Silver
Machine Audrey Moore HP Silver
OCCS (don’t recall the group)

Thank you in advance!

BB almost A is pretty good for a young nine. Try to find her some good coaching.

Does anyone have experience with Machine Oak Marr HP Silver 6:30-8 am practice group? Is Coach Dan the coach for that group, or is he just the National Team coach/site head?

My kid did ncap Burke Bronze 2 for 2 years and really loved Coach Kim. She’s not for everyone though—she’s a fierce yeller and very strict. But my kid figured out pretty quickly that she has a heart of gold and also appreciated that no one was allowed to screw around in the lanes. We've been happy with the program. Afternoon practices are large, with maybe 6 lanes of 4-6 kids each. I’ve heard morning practices are much smaller.

NCAP West! We drove more than an hour to get to this site for my swimmer’s last 2 years in high school. Why… Jeremy Linn is an excellent & knowledgeable coach (previous Olympian/NCAA Div 1 winner), the swimmers are serious about doing the best they can, swim sets have a purpose behind them, and swimmers get tremendous results !

Jeremy goes out of his way to promote his swimmers and assist them in getting recruited by colleges!

NCAP West...

Do not choose the closest!!! Some teams will hire coaches that have only high school swim team training. If your swimmer learns the wrong way, it may take them years to unlearn how to get out of a bad habit. Great foundational coaches know the process to train swimmers and encourage them.

Which has the best coaching for 10-12 age group and which has evening practices for this age group? Thank you!

Freedom Center, with the only caveat being the training groups are very large. The 10 year olds (Bronze 3 or Bronze 2) all have afternoon-evening practice. The more advanced 11 year olds and the 12 year olds (Bronze 1) have 2 early am practices per week. Here is the link to Freedom Center where you can find the schedule for this year, and tryout sign ups. Next year’s practice schedule is not out.

I think the posts pretty much answered the question. A lot will depend on where you live and how the practice schedule fits for your family, but NCAP West would be my choice all things being equal.
