My kid did not take a book, no phone….
It was a terrible start to an already early day.

OMG. That sounds horrible! Did they just have to sit there and not do anything? Were they okay?

NP. So…you’re coming here to defend the shitty proctor who was incapable of performing the extremely easy job they were supposed to do?

Sounds like the PP was asking about the kids. Did they just have to sit there. Were they ok. What’s wrong with that?

PP was being sarcastic…hence the eyeroll.

After all of the preparation and anticipation it really sucked to sit there for two hours at 8 am. They were afraid it wasn’t going to happen. My kid wished she had a phone or a book so that was her mistake. I hope it doesn’t happen to your kid.

Were they able to have a snack? This sucks, so sorry! It definitely messes with the psyche to have to sit around and wait under these pressured, high stakes testing conditions.

Always has been, always will be. Don't trust them with something this big.

My kids and friends from an upper NW private took the SAT at a PG County High school this morning. Went off without a hitch. Half the kids taking the exam were classmates and friends from DC.

Jackson Reed is usually pretty solid. Obviously it was unlucky but just one classroom vs the probably 30 classrooms that were fine.

Why did you go to a PG County HS? My kid went to MoCo.

They were afraid? Lordy, your kids are privileged. It was probably the only time since they started school that they were allowed to just sit there and do nothing. You have these kids so
over scheduled that they don’t know how to just sit and do nothing without being anxious. That’s sad.

Those kids in the Breakfast Club had to sit there all day! They had a pretty good day despite that.

Not as bad, but my kid reported that the proctor at her school was jangling their keys for the duration of the test.

That would annoy the hell out of me I’d have been PO’d and unable to focus.

When I took the test my proctor kept passing gas and ran out the room then all the kids started cheating.

NP. Of course they were. These scores are an important factor for admissions, and it is a lot of pressure (and cost). YOU sound privileged. Leave the kids alone, Old Cranky Pants. Flibberty-floo.

This is one of many problems with standardized tests.
They never are.
How does the college board account for 1 room where a proctor does not show? Or there is band practice outside the window or ....

especially when some private schools have gone over the top to make sure it is optimal testing environment?
