SAT proctor 90 minutes late to show up this morning

Anonymous
Cautionary tale--My daughter is taking the SAT right now at Jackson-Reed. The proctor for the 8 am test had not appeared up as 925 am. The test began sometime after 930 am

The College Board customer service rep provided me with 100 percent inaccurate information (including that the test center was closed).

If this is the kind of thing you'd like to avoid, go elsewhere to take the test; I have heard of this happening at J-R in past years

How do you know? Where is is your kid able to get in touch with you?

NP here. Usually kids take their phones in a bag with car keys, wallet, and such, and then silence them and put them in the front of the room next to the proctor once they are preparing to start the test.

Had nightmare scenario at Yorktown December 2022. No proctor. Kids sat for 2 hours.
My kid did not take a book, no phone….
It was a terrible start to an already early day.

My kid was in that room. It started after 10 am. Just one room. The other kids/rooms started on time

OMG. That sounds horrible! Did they just have to sit there and not do anything? Were they okay?

Aren't they volunteers? Why didn't you volunteer.

LOL. Because he paid for the test. What's next? Should I volunteer at the bank when I make my next mortgage payment?

The SAT isn’t proctored by volunteers. It is proctored by teachers who are paid extra, and are vetted to make sure they understand test security.

Jackson Reed is a sh3%&t-show.

Always has been, always will be. Don't trust them with something this big.

My kids and friends from an upper NW private took the SAT at a PG County High school this morning. Went off without a hitch. Half the kids taking the exam were classmates and friends from DC.

That’s horrible. Those poor kids. The one at Robinson went off smoothly. I was expecting tech errors but none.

NP. So…you’re coming here to defend the shitty proctor who was incapable of performing the extremely easy job they were supposed to do?
