Possibly being counseled out of Georgetown Prep?

OP--can you please explain more? This is troubling for those of us who are considering the school. Being counseled out for simple "moderate academic issues" seems extreme and makes me pause. But please don't drop a bomb and walk away--more information is needed.

A lot of it depends on why they are being counseled out.

Curious about Avalon being on this list. Is this based on first hand experience? Is Avalon a place where kids that have been counseled out of other Catholic schools, like Prep, go?

his parents drove around with signs all over their vehicle.

Do you mean they have bumper stickers on like 75% of other parents?!?

OP, I agree with others, but it depends on the reason. But if it is only academic I would start with testing for LDs if this is a new issue. I would also look to a school that has a strong learning support program. SJC or DJO perhaps. It might be easier to get into the SJC benilde program as an upperclassman as some students don’t remain in the program all 4 years.

Maybe The Heights or St Anselm's, depending on the issue. Academic vs behavioral makes a huge difference here.

Such a turn off. [/b]
Did a tour and decided hard pass.

What a lovely person you are

I mean, you would be the pot calling the kettle black.

They’re stating their opinion. I don’t like Prep either.

Does Prep have minimum GPA/grade requirements to remain in the school? OP, is the “moderate issue” that your child isn’t keeping grades up?

If the issues are academic definitely not The Heights. Behavioral? The Heights might be a good fit.

St. Anselm’s is more academically rigorous than Prep. I would
not recommend that school
if your kid is struggling at Prep.

OP here-son has no behaviroal issues at all but unfortunately is doing quite badly in 2 classes: one which would not be required at many other schools and one which is a core class.

No, not the normal bumper stickers. Painted on the windows, streamers. For months.

Benilde is only an option at SJC as an incoming freshman. If it’s potential learning issues, look into testing, and executive functioning coaching, and tutors.

Oh, please. Why wouldn’t they accept a kid?

Also I would rank both Landon and Bullis higher than Prep
