Yup, just another example of how much grade inflation there is when you compare the high average gpa with a relatively low average SAT.

1420 is not low average. The average is around 1030 according to CollgeBoard.

+1

Anyone thinking 1420 is low has lived in the DC bubble too long.

Some of you try to claim it’s a T30 school. Not with that SAT average.

I don’t think it’s a low test average considering it requires test scores. For all you know, the average Ivy applicant could have a 31 ACT - I’ve never seen applicant average test scores reported. But what’s interesting is how high the average applicant GPA is compared to a 31 ACT score.

Very low ACT average

My kids scored that 9th grade never having seen the test before in a full mock ACT.

35 2 years later with only minor prep

As estimated several times over the past two weeks, OOS acceptance rate comfortably below 10% …

Georgetown and MIT require all test scores and aren’t that low.

As calculated by you, it was 20 last cycle and likely the same this year. Yield is always much lower for oos so they take more kids per slot than for instate at all state flagship.s

If the PaCE and other non-Fall 2024 admits are excluded, the test score averages might be meaningfully higher.

The accept 15K for 6,500 slots. State law impacts OOS enrollment. There’s absolutely no shitty math you can muster to get the OOS acceptance rate above 10%. Sorry that upsets you.

This data is from US News. MIT is the only one test required for this data cycle. Show in the percentage submitting the SAT OR ACT (with the understanding that some might submit both). Since US News curiated the data from the 2022-2023 cycle, that year's data is used for the submission percentage.

Not a lot of surprises. There were a couple of schools who saw the submittal rate drop fairly decently from year to year, including Pomona and Swarthmore

1. UChicago 1545 [unknown how many submit an SAT or ACT as it hasn't published a Common Data Set since the 2021-2022 cycle at which time it was 84%]
2. MIT 1543 Test mandatory
3. Dartmouth 1528 * Its 2023-2024 Common Data set did not publish any SAT data
4. WashU 1527 [60% submitted an SAT and/or ACT score]
5. Penn 1527 [71% submitted an SAT and/or ACT score]
6. Stanford 1527 [72% submitted in 2022-2023, 69% submitted in 2023-2024)
7. Princeton 1526 [85% submitted an SAT and/or ACT score]
8. Yale 1524 [88% submitted an SAT and/or ACT score]
9. Carnegie Mellon 1521 [70% submitted an SAT and/or ACT score]
10. Harvard 1520 [83% sumbitted an SAT and/or ACT score]

74,800 total freshman applications

Below are the estimates, based on data released by UF in previous Board of Trustees meetings …

41,500 FL applicants
32,300 OOS applicants

16,000 accepted applicants (all programs)

6,600 slots available (all programs)

13,000 FL accepted applicants x yield rate of 45% = 5,850 enrollments

3,000 OOS accepted applicants x yield rate of 25% = 750 enrollments (11.4% of overall)

16,000 / 74,800 = 21.4 overall accept rate

13,000 / 41,500 = 31.3% FL accept rate

3,000 / 32,300 = 9.3% OOS accept rate

They most certainly are already excluded. All schools release stats only for those students accepted to be full time students in the fall term at their main ca,pjs. The only exception I am aware of is Emory which releases stats for its Pxford campus.

I’ll add that my OOS kid (36 ACT one-and-done with a 36 in each section, 4.57 GPA at Top 50 public high high school in the U.S., 14 AP classes [with 10 AP tests already in the bag, all with scores of 5], 4-year varsity team sport captain [including state championship during sophomore year], with extensive volunteer and research experience in his area of academic interest, and compelling essays) was accepted by UF, but failed to gain acceptance into the honors college and without a single dime of merit.

It was competitive - very competitive.

Is your DC going to attend UF? Was it their top choice?
