The best thing you ever got for free?

I bought a miniature donkey for $1. Still have him many years later! He’s a doll.

Laptop in the mid- to late-90s when 20-somethings did not have laptop computers at home. I won it at a professional conference expo

Our Border collie x German shepherd
puppy. She was on Freecycle. And my Border collie pup who just showed up in the driveway. Also Mango the Manx, who swam across the creek to come live with us, and a purebred Great Pyrenees who was abandoned down by the river. Also our Flatcoat Retriever who was tossed out on our road because he was old. We are grateful for all.

I love donkeys! I have a BLM burro who cost $120, and a palomino/dun Mustang who cost a big $800.

Do tell... plane tickets are one thing, but a condo? Multiple cars? Given to you by the same or different people?

Great question OP! DH or I took a mug from a restaurant and received a bill for it a year later. We called the restaurant. They actually told us who told them (and that same person demanded that the restaurant bill us), and excused the six dollars. We know who it was, and the restaurant was so relieved that we called and asked them about it. They said some choice words about the person who "reported" it, and we still have a great laugh about it when we go back to that restaurant a couple times per year.

A bookshelf that someone in our neighborhood set out at the street. We still have it and use it 35 years later.

Gift actually granted from restaurant = free. Hearing restaurant's rendition of the whole story = priceless.

Ordered clothes from Nordstrom. There was a pair of shorts and matching sweatshirt included that I didn't order. Very cute at the time and I wore them a lot.

PS I know that you requested tangible objects but they are so tiny in comparison it’s not worth discussing.

But apparently they are worth discussing. To everyone else on this thread.
