Some on the council recently tried to introduce sand measures to reign in crime in DC.

Charles Allen fought hard to water it down, gut it, delay it, and he wants it to die in committee.

What we meed is to house unhoused in needed mental/drug rehab and criminals in needed prison/rehab. Bring businesses in and negotiate jobs and internships for locals with them. Fix up school standards. This should improve house prices and people who can neither repair or sell their homes, should be able to fix up or sell and new comers can renovate. It would elevate whole city. Also there should be a ban on random graffiti, seek volunteer artists from high-schools, colleges and community to do meaningful artwork over it.

Why can't Capitol Hill leadership go to big endowment colleges and get them to give our top 5% grads admissions and aid to change their lives? If there is a competition for those spots, more students and families would compete and school environment would improve.
