DP A CO is far more familiar with criminals than you are. Their opinion is more credible than yours. |
They are carjacking to go to doctor's appointments. |
We must be looking at this differently because there has been a litany of new legislation in the last decade. Far too many to list here. Care to elaborate in your perspective? And addressing a different PP: I know you are agreeing with my overall point. For the correlation between poverty and criminal behavior, do know that it IS absolutely real. The amount of perseverance and drive it takes to emerge from these places as an educated, thoughtful, productive member of society is hard to explain to those that haven’t lived it. But the deep systemic inequities are not solved by allowing total chaos and lawlessness. And to the person who said what we need high standards in our communities, I could not agree more. |
| Sure, let’s pretend this is a federal issue. |
It is, partially. Look no further than the US Attorney for DC, Matthew Graves. (You can read more about him here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/315/1171899.page#26543360 And here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1176804.page) US Attorneys have a lot of latitude in prosecuting federal cases in their jurisdictions. Yes.... DA's and local prosecutors are at fault as well. As are some of the insane laws passed in some states/cities. Listen to what this Sheriff has to say: |
You are a MAGA supremacist. |
OMG |
Clever rebuttal! Top of your class, are you? And so way off, but I suppose an educated and articulate person from the hood calling for high expectations for our children and safety for our grandmothers, defies your perception of who we should be. Should I be smoking a blunt, drinking a 40 and saying “yo fck da police?” Would that be more comfortable for you?? These are issues that have primarily concerned neighborhoods that the DCUM crowd has never lived in and impacts people that you would never associate with. Oh but you read Mother Jones and make donations to “progressive” causes from a safe distance so you’re cool and woke. You and your condescending white savior ignorance can sit down now. You’re as racist as Trump. |
You get it. I also grew up in a rough situation and I can relate to everything you are saying. Keep speaking truth. |
I also grew up dirt poor but my experience is that correlation is not necessarily causation. Most poor people don't just automatically go around doing carjackings and armed robberies. That's closer to a single-digit percentage of the poor, and has a lot more to do with dysfunction in the home and immediate environment than it is mere poverty. |
