WMATA feedback on proposed cuts

Survey regarding potential fee increases and service closures. They are planning to remove all bus service easily accessible for me — check your neighborhood!

That's a shame. I prefer the bus to metro. Nothing will get me down there, even taking away the buses
How is this city green/equitable/pedestrian friendly again? Isn't public transport a huge part of that? Too bad we've dismantled it

This is why we need Charles Allen.

We haven't dismantled public transportation, at least not in the past few decades. It does need to be funded, though.

Hard pass on that.

That will lead to surge pricing for tourists, low income employees and people on fixed incomes.

MD/VA should encourage their residents to use metro to lower carbon emissions for climate change purposes. They don't necessarily have to come into DC but using parts of the system helps.

Metro doesn't go anywhere in the suburbs. It goes to downtown DC, and nowhere else. It is useless for me.

Metrobus (which many schoolchildren and low-income people rely on more so than the metro) is at an all-time high in ridership. Only the subway has seen its ridership decrease. If you’re going to make a profitability argument about Metro’s budget, at least take that into consideration or you’re being being disingenuous.

WAMATA has cut bus lines in Virginia. Why should Virginians have to pay more for fewer services? If DC residents are using it more, let them pay for it

Maybe they should just only have metro service in the district. Why should dc subsidize a commuter rail?

MD goes way into the outer burbs of VA and with the new purple line, it's connecting MoCo and PG

If you are upset by this, then complete the survey and make it known you want your route back to full service.,

Virginia got the silver line extension

Next administration leads, send Feds back to work in office 3 or more days a week. Metro budget problem solved. 20% of lazy Feds quit in response. Federal budget shrinks. Win-win for everybody.

When do we get to discuss more automation and getting rid of a bunch of lazy staff who get paid a lot + pensions for doing nothing? Automate it all.

Western Fairfax and Loudon got the silver line. Anyone living in eastern Fairfax, south Arlington, or Alexandria has seen service cuts unless you happen to live near Potomac yards. If DC residents are the ones using most of the services, let them pay

No one is going to RTO to the District to the extent needed to save CRE, taxes on which help fund Metro.

The Purple Line isn't WMATA, it's the Maryland Transit Administration.

But yes, "Metro doesn't go anywhere in the suburbs" is an absurd and foolish statement.
