| About 50 feet from our bedroom. It takes about 10 seconds. |
| 3.5 miles, 15 to 20 minutes, each way. |

1.75 miles (downtown DC) to work/daycare.
10-30 mins on the bus depending on the wait for the bus. 10 min drive but then need to park. 35 min walk with double stroller when its nice out. |

I live exactly 15 miles from work. Before kid: about 45 minutes each way. Drove to metro, parked and rode into DC.
After kid: about 70 minutes each way, not including daycare dropoff and pickup. Dropoff/pickup 3 miles from my house and metro means I'm on the road over 3 hours a day. It sucks ass. (Drive to metro, park, ride into DC.) Driving to work generally shaves 30 minutes off the evening commute but doesn't help the morning commute. Strongly considering a move to South Arlington, with a new daycare. |

| 45-60 min door to door. Walk 15-20 min to daycare, then dropoff takes 5-10 min, then 15 min walk to metro, then 7-10 min metro ride, then 2-5 min to get into my office. That is from Woodley Park to downtown. |
| Only 2 miles to work (the office actually moved closer to my house a couple years ago), plus school pick up in the afternoon. I'm sick of my job, but dread dealing with the commute for somewhere else, so I've been staying put for now. |
Three miles one way. Live in DC and work in DC. Easy peasy

3/4 mile to drop DD off at PS. Both DW and I work out of the house 5/wk. In August DD starts at the local ES one block away. I feel like DW and I have arrived at the last square in "The Game of Life".

| One minute if I walk slowly and I don't even work from home. I work out of my neighbor's home. |

It takes me 90 minutes to get from Fairfax to Capitol Hill.
What the F is going on? The construction on the bridge needs to be done already. |

13:45 PP - depending on where you live and work, you might benefit from trying new commuting routes. I live between 29 and 50, about 2 miles outside of the beltway. I've tried 29, 50 and 495 to 395. 495 to 395 is surprisingly not longer, even with the additional mileage. It's slow the last few miles into DC but it's a straighter shot to some parts of DC than Constitution. I commute to 7th/E NW and it's about 55-60 minutes on any of those routes.
I hear ya on the construction, though. Stupid beltway construction is killing my drive to the daycare pickup - 3 miles on 2 roads should NOT take 30+ minutes, even in rush hour. Stupid. |
Regional population growth. Congestion gets worse as population increases, and the relationship is *not* linear. It's why the price for houses in the city keeps going up, up, up... |

I live and work in DC.
8 minutes/1.9 miles both ways |
