| Maybe for a day or two but three days seems like a lot. |
Agree |
| Of course I would. The fact that this is a question makes me nutty. I remember graduating (class valedictorian) and feeling sad for the people who got their little plastic medal for perfect attendance. Family matters and my family’s priority was on what’s best for us as a unit which is much healthier. |
I am so thankful there's been a shift from celebrating perfect attendance. It's a meaningless "accomplishment" |
What major academic issues can occur in kindergarten/1st grade that are made worse by missing 3 days? |
| No. Keep them on schedule. |
|
Early elementary school I would not hesitate to pull them out of school and go. If you’re concerned about messing up their routine, wait until Thursday and then they’re only missing 2 days of school and with the holiday Monday, you still have a 5 day break. Pretty good chance there will be a lot of kids missing on the Friday before a holiday weekend.
K & 1st is peak time for Valentine’s Day parties (if your school does those), so they may not want to miss tomorrow. My kids just had a 5 day break due to snow/sickness and are right back in the routine. |
| Go and enjoy. They won't remember the other kids in their class. They'll remember the special bond they had with their mom |
| I would do a long weekend. A full week seems unnecessary. |

At that age do whatever you want
"Surprise" them? sounds like you need their validation too much |
| I never really took my kid out of school but in this case I would have 100 percent. |
| Yes, I would and I have. |
| Absolutely! Have fun! |
| Fot those ages, absolutely. |
| Absolutely. They are very young— missing a few days of school will not matter. |
