Does anyone remember how much parking was at the convention center? Thanks! |
Futsal coach here. Coached @ AC last two winters. Terrific tournament. Full-sized futsal courts with (mainly?) competent refs & (mostly?) terrific futsal academies participating. Convention Center presents challenging parking & parents have to buy a weekend pass, but it’s def a tournament worth it IMO if your kid is passionate about futsal and their team is strong. Yes, AC is a hole & getting from casinos hotels to Conv Center can be challenging. Yes, there was a brawl on a court last year involving two ten boys teams. But neither of those should dissuade a family from attending one of the best futsal tournaments in the country. Hope this is helpful. |
Wow - sounds like this is going to be one interesting futsal tournament!
We are staying in a hotel outside of Atlantic City because I am familiar with how run-down AC is and did not want to stay there. I am not interesting in gambling either so no loss for me to avoid the casinos. It is frustrating that we don't have the schedule yet. A Friday evening game maybe wouldn't be so bad but I'd like to know sooner rather than later. Anyway - my kid is looking forward to it and so am I ![]() |
Last year I think the convention center parking was $20, but there was an outdoor lot directly across the street for $10 |
NP here. We’ve been three times and are going back this weekend. Last year we witnessed two fights: 1) one involving parents v parents that included throwing chairs and 2) one among players (who were not little kids). We have seen fights in the prior years, including one where a parent from one team charged the court to try to get to a player on the other team. Futsal, as they get older, is generally a highly competitive, high adrenaline sport with trash talking, screaming and sometimes pushing among players. I don’t love that but my kid really likes to play and he’s super good at it. The area around the AC convention center is an absolute dump. All of it. Stay in a hotel or air bnb in a nearby town, don’t stay in a hotel in AC. |
Completely ridiculous that a schedule has not been posted. |
Nor will it be until Thursday or Friday. The organizers fly in from California and do this every year. |
There are games starting Friday at noon -- so they'd better not wait until Friday to release the schedule! The organizers have sent several emails blaming the scheduling delays on "several teams that incorrectly enrolled in the wrong age bracket" . . . the last email was from last night (February 12th) promising that schedules will be released last night at 1am (10pm Pacific). Alas, the schedules still haven't been posted. |
People are chippy on their Facebook. They turned off the comments. Hell, at least we are just driving up from NOVA-- can you imagine the teams flying in from all over the country? |
Schedules are posted! |
Schedule is up. How many grumpy parents are rearranging their whole weekends now? |
Bwaaaahaaaaa.....they roped most everybody into four days for three games. Definitely glad we're not doing this year. What a waste of cash and time. |
Yep - it is a completely ridiculous schedule. |
It's the same as last year for our club. One game each day and games on Monday if you make the playoffs. 1/3 of the teams make the playoffs in our age bracket (8 out of 24). This is a massive tournament with squads from all over the country and a decade worth of age groups. Every court is being used at all times and I imagine it's a nightmare to schedule it. What is more striking is that this poster logged onto a schedule for a tournament they are NOT attending for the purpose of making a derogatory and gloating(?) comment on an anonymous message board. I hope they got the satisfaction they were looking for from their petty comment. And since they assume their child wouldn't make the last day, I'm happy for them they're not going. Bwaaaahaaaa, indeed. |
I think the poster's point was that 40 minutes of futsal per day - be it three or four days of games - is not a good use of anyone's time. And the costs associated with it do nothing but make it less justifiable. We're going, and we regret it already. |
