Atlantic City futsal tournament - Northeast Regional

Anonymous
This is our first year heading to the Northeast Regional futsal tournament in Atlantic City.

I'm a little surprised that the schedule isn't posted yet, but hopefully we will get that soon. Do the games at this tournament usually manage to stay on schedule?

Any other advice as to what to expect or how it compares with the big futsal tournament in Richmond?

We went one year and never went back. There was a fight that had to be broken up between parents - security and/or the cops were called (it wasn't our game). The surrounding area was sketchy, just not an environment we ever wanted our 11 year old to be around again.

Never heard of anyone experiencing this.

It's a fun event.

If you live in a country club bubble then everything else is sketchy

super fun event. hectic and loud and crazy, but that adds to the charm.

fyi, schedules will allegedly be out today (Monday), but I don't believe them. last few years they have come out on Wednesday, or even Thursday (the day before the start).

good news. Your 11 yr old will not be 11 next time. so you can go back.

the hotels were outragreously expensive, the walkaway from hotel to location smells like urine and has homeless people, and expsoing my young kids to AC was a terrible parenting moment. The kids had fun but it is not somewhere I ever want to go back to.

you forgot to mention the used condoms on the walkways and hookers walking around...but apparently that's normal if you live outside a country club

Great event, great facility. Everything else about AC sucks.
Biggest negative though is that it is Monday before and we still have no schedule, but have heard that games may start as early as noon on Friday. That's going to involve another full day off work, possibly another hotel night, etc. Futsal parents are made of money.

After Nucky Thompson, Chalky White and Gyp Rosetti died, the place went to hell

My goodness. Exposing your kid to a place the "has homeless people" was a terrible parenting moment? It sounds more like you would prefer to avoid parenting moments. If you're not invested in high level futsal or soccer for your kid and real life in urban areas bothers you a lot. I'd say don't go. You also don't have to stay in downtown AC. I got an air bnb 10 minutes away and it was great. And maybe don't deny your kids opportunities to do fun and valuable things because of your heightened sensitivities to things you find unpleasant.
