BLC is a boys and girls lax club. Did you know this when you posted your comment?

To be perfectly honest, I forgot. Just know from my experience at NL that the girls never got the same amount if attention and funds thrown their way as the boys. The director had no clue about any of the girls teams. That was my only point.

NL is not a girls club. Not even sure why they try.

BLC boys get a lot more attention that the girls.

DC area clubs don’t support the girls at the same level as Baltimore. It’s maddening.

that is because the club directors in Montgomery County are focused on enriching themselves and their pockets whereas the Baltimore area clubs are focused on developing talent and getting the girls into the best schools possible.

I don’t want to believe this but it sure feels that way.

To be fair I don’t think the DC area has the same level of girls coaches at scale. You’re not going to show up at BLC practice and the former coach of Loyola is coaching for the day. Or a USWNT player is coaching offensive drills. Happens regularly in Baltimore but not DC area.

They also give unicorns away in Baltimore at every practice - I was often shocked to find out the pedigree of who was coaching my child here in the DMV. Hall of Famers, US National team members and absolute legends of the game.

Baltimore or Long Island is the Mecca of Girls Lax, but DMV has its own class and pedigree to be proud of.

If you are looking to make the commute to Baltimore its much easier in High School, Middle School years in DMV at least are super intense. To be fair though if your kid is that kid they will succeed no matter the club, its up to you to make the investment outside of what the club is doing in the DMV or Baltimore.

Being in it for the money can be said about many clubs in Baltimore, too, sadly. In the DMV, I am pretty sure BLC is the only non-profit. And they also consistently field the most competitive girls teams. So it is kind of a no brainer if you are looking for a high quality program with the right mission.

You’re naive if you think being a non profit means anything in the club world. Do you honestly think they aren’t maximizing revenue and paying the director max salary?

I'm going to guess your an adult - why are you hating on elementary, middle and high school girls.... It's a weird energy man, if you're kid is on an elite Baltimore team great, I wish her the best.

Back to the topic if I could do it all over again I would pick the team your daughter has the most friends on. If she shows potential baltimore clubs will become an option. If you are looking at NL and BLC, then Heros, Integrity, MD United, SkyWlakers and M&D maybe closer then you think.

Make sure your daughter is having fun 1st off, to me thats the most important thing the club can provide a love of the game. If you do want her to be in the running for the top DMV or Baltimore clubs you will have to invest in additional training.

Agree with PP re NL that it is ok for intro to lax for girls but not very good beyond that. Boys program gets all the money and attention. And the director has no involvement in girls program. Only one decent team there now that will break up next year for Capital. Avoid NL.

MCE is also a non-profit, 501c3 organization. I hope that puts some perspective on that whole "non profit" thing as everyone knows that director and how MCE has enriched her personally.

If your daughter is a 2032 then look into Rebels. Not that far away and their 2032 team is solid.

Next Level girls is now M & D... There are definitely club hoppers, and I expect to see some movement to M & D especially as MoCo families catch wind of M&D's longstanding solid reputation and want out of BLC.

MC Elite was sold to the St. James. Interested to see how that shakes out.

MnD hasn’t presented anything compelling yet. They need to get it together if they want girls trying out.

Looks like another money grab in the DC area until disproven.
