I can't imagine the public even has an opinion about her.

Then you haven't been paying attention to the chatter on social media.

Or we'd settle for someone who wasn't fired or canned early from her last two gigs. You don't need to nail yourself to a cross to meet that criteria, drama queen.

It is always a mistake to believe that the chatter you see in your social media bubble represents public opinion.

From her Linkedin page > Equity-centered leader with a proven track record for improving outcomes for children.

She was at MCPS form 1999-2014. Isn't this the time when parents said MCPS started to implement weak standards of teaching and behavior. Honors for all, cut back on classes with differentiated ability, restorative justice, not listening to teachers, students gone wild......

Yes. Yes, it is.

How do you get that? Sure, I'd be concerned if she's another super who is only concerned with optics and isn't focused on education.

I think because the NAACP was protesting removing McKnight, and the BOE knew that the optics of firing the first black female superintendent didn't look good, they think they're covering their butts by hiring another black woman for the job.

It's pathetic. But you can see this is a purely political move with no regard for the wellbeing of staff or students.

If you don't see academic rigor as the first and foremost priority, you aren't paying attention. Scores are in the gutter. The "cutting edge " industries that were attracted to this area ans helped spur on its growth will find it harder to attract top talent when the school system is so poor.
If that doesn't concern you over "equity studies" I don't know what to tell you.

I thought that was more like the past decade, i.e. after she left MCPS.

No, it's just the time that the parents currently on DCUM remember and therefore feel knowledgeable complaining about.

She has wrapped herself in all of the same equity buzzwords as those folks. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck....

Maybe you should apply for the job.

Felder is being appointed as INTERIM Superintendent, right?

Please enlighten me: why does that indicate that she will go on to permanently fill the position? Clearly the BoE hasn't had any time to conduct a search.

When you go to spend the time and money to pursue advanced degrees in any subject of your choosing and you choose equity studies, you're not a person concerned with learning.

Oh yes, when you hire a white man, it's a merit hire, but when you hire a black woman, it can only be political and due to optics.
