It could happen. I don't think people would enjoy it. Qatar is a relatively modern and nice country and people melted down over the World Cup being there. "They won't let us drink beer!" "They made me turn my gay pride shirt inside out!" A bunch of crying because they had to abide by the rules of the host nation. It would be similar in Africa, except that Qatar is one of the world's richest countries and Africa is the poorest continent. And it's not like Mexico, it doesn't have a big tourist industry with nice hotels. It'll be.. rustic. And far more conservative than most Americans would tolerate.

Haha do you even understand the burden of hosting the games? It's not actually profitable for the host country. Hell I worked at the Greek games and man they barely held it together.

I think they got lucky actually. Kinda counter intuitive I know but it's an event. Afterwards you're screwed. Not sure why everyone vyes for it. It's a financial nightmare once it's over. Any smart place would make a run but hope they won't win for it!

I think a Johannesburg Olympics could be great. Of course, the seasons would be reversed from the northern hemisphere, but that’s been done before (Sydney, Rio).
