Hell no. Why should MD and VA residents pay more because the idiots on the DC council legalized fare theft that’s costing the system millions of dollars? VA and MD residents shouldn’t be paying more because DC’s progressive politics are a dumpster fire.

The workers also don’t do anything except collect checks. They’re do nothing lazy bums who allow theft and act all ornery or pissed off whenever you have to approach them due to a fare issue. Heaven forbid they are interrupted for 20 seconds from their phone screen time and have to press a few buttons to fix your fare issue. And they’re supposed to get pensions? Lay them all off and automate everything.

Because we all benefit from Metro. Yes, even you.

Nope. I don’t use the system at all because it is ridiculously expensive. It is cheaper to Uber than take the metro.

We live in a society, where we benefit from things even if we personally never use them, because there are other people who do use them.

Well they need to get people to stop skipping the fare. It's on them but they don't want to do better. And now we need to bail them out.

When the system disproportionately benefits one of the three jurisdictions, that jurisdiction should provide disproportionate funding

It’s an embarrassment. Are there ANY grownups in charge around here? WTAF? When the capital of the richest nation in the world can’t/won’t have a decent transit system for its people, we are doomed as a species.

But all those people who still do take Metro? Your Uber isn’t sitting in traffic with their cars. So you do benefit.

1 in 4 people around the DMV work from home. You vastly overestimate the impact of the metro.

People would rather drive too and spend time in traffic because it is safer than taking the metro. DC allowed violence and crime to run amok in and on the metro system. I’ll Siena a few dollars more on Ubers or be slightly inconvenienced by driving if it means more safety for myself.

Come on now. Where can you travel by Uber that costs less than $6 (the maximum metro fee)? Even going a few blocks in DC costs more than that. Now I grant you, taking an Uber saves TIME. But costs less? No.

Dumb logic. You only look at it like you yourself are traveling. Metro can be $6 PER PERSON. If you are traveling with a family of 4, that’s now $24 each damn way. It can be often cheaper just to take a damn Uber when you pile multiple people into it. It’s safer too. $6 per ride is an outrageous price compared to NYC. It’s absurd it can cost a family almost $50 round trip just to take public transportation.

You are not paying attention to Ubers price increases. Short trips used to run under $10. Now they are all $15 and up.

Which is still cheaper than the metro when traveling with multiple people. And even when Uber is more expensive, the difference is still negligible compared to metro. I’ll pay a few dollars extra to be more safe.

OK, y'all, we can get rid of WMATA now. PP personally would rather take Uber, even if it costs more. Problem solved!

It's not just PP. Ridership has cratered

Until your Uber is carjacked. There’s 2-3 carjackings a day in DC. Once of these days it’s will be you.
