What happens to January Open of snow?

What they would not do is try to combine last minute.

I’ve seen it happen. Wasn’t it just last year that the pool in MD closed because the bulk head collapsed and they moved everyone to Franconia?

Wasn't that summer long course, though? Way fewer swimmers to deal with.

lol. "My kid can't swim so yours can't either" Great attitude.

Thankfully, they will not do this. If a site is open, the meet will go on. This isn't a stepping stone to anywhere, it's just a opportunity to compete in a sanctioned meet. I've never even seen merged results I don't think.

Morning session tomorrow for 11-12 will likely be canceled but others should be good to go.

We just got an email from our head coach indicating that PVS will be discussing facilities, etc. this afternoon and more information will be provided after that.

Won’t Colgan likely be off on Sat since PWCS will likely close?

I hope not. If they do that then they need to let swimmers swim at the other sites.

We just got heat sheets and timelines with no mention of canceling or not holding sessions. PWCS sucks.

My swimmer is at Colgan and I hope that the show goes on. We live in Arlington, so it is ridiculous our club is put down there and not a closer pool.

Winter classic was the last meet and the events were chosen for my swimmer - so not what they wanted but what was needed to score points. So they need to swim this weekend an event for IMX qualification.

Frustrating if what some of the other posters are saying about Colgan is true.

RMSC has a meet in Germantown, allegedly, as well...

The early season meets, in October and November, are a great time to check all the IMX boxes.

My swimmer is NCAP Alex and we are also there even though it’s about an hour away. So frustrating.

Colgan is a better racing pool than that of Audrey More but if they don’t hold the meet it doesn’t matter.

All the sites are very evenly balanced in terms of numbers of swimmers. Maybe they could have sent Claude Moore to Colgan and Alexandria to Audrey Moore instead, but there’s only so much they can do when they are trying to balance numbers. Be glad that NCAP West and OCCS don’t attend the January Open because the Colgan site would have been packed.

True. But November was also a travel meet where not all events were offered and it was a team meet so events were based on point pickup.

The only two meets this season where my swimmer could choose their events was October meet and this meet.

Not to mention that the qualifying period for IMX meet in Hampton runs from September 2022 to the present. Granted the meet announcement allows for last minute qualifications this weekend, but a little planning goes a long way sometimes.

"Athletes achieving the qualifying time standards for the first time from Saturday January 20, through Sunday January 21, 2024 shall be sent by e-mail. These entries must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, January 22, 2024, and cannot be used to improve the seed time of a prior entry. Please E-Mail these last minute entries to the Meet Director.[/b]"
