The last time we got real snow, they were using un shoveled bus stops as an excuse to keep schools closed days later. Last weekend, they closed for rain. Never under estimate the desire of FCPS to keep kids out of school

Well get out there and be a good citizen-shovel those bus stops!! Then they won't have an excuse

But then didn't they tacitly admit that the real reason for the closure was too many teachers out sick with COVID and whatnot? IIRC this was the first week back after winter break.

Yes, I was a teacher that year (2020-2021), and it was made clear to the staff that the reason for the full week off was Covid. Last Saturday only affected sports and not school- so the poster above is clearly inaccurate.

The poster above likes to complain.

God I hope we have the whole week off!!! The teachers have been going crazy trying to cram in more grades before the end of the quarter. This happened the minute we got back from winter break.

In one subject, my daughter has three quizzes/tests before the close of quarter. The one that gave a time consuming project also added a summative. Another class has a quiz and a test, and last one has a bunch of assignments and a test. I hope they don't close, though. I'd really rather DD got this over with; she's been fairly organized and checking things off the list, so she can stay afloat.

Last time it snowed, trees were down all over. Roads were blocked. Last weekend was not a school day.

If we get 8", it's possible to be closed for an entire week, it has happened before. I don't think the temperatures are forecast to be that cold on Thursday and Friday so it's unlikely but possible. With icing and refreezing, late starts are also possible throughout the week.

I am still a little skeptical but I see high of 33 on Thursday and 34 on Friday so it's not like it's going to melt immediately either day. And 50% chance of snow Friday.

Hopefully OPM closes at least one day so DH is home and i'm not trying to entertain DS while working.

Opm will not close. We now have a telework policy in place. He can take liberal leave.

I’d like one day off and one delay please.

Snow chances are declining….

And this is why schools should be able to go virtual! Especially high school. It is so close to the end of the quarter

For schools to go virtual, every kid needs virtual access.

Look at the compensatory service requirements that are owed due to going virtual due to Covid. There’s no way they will risk that again, even for a day.

We can’t go virtual. Thousands and thousands of children in K and 1st have not been taught how. Kindergarten has iPads we could never send home. And we have more to do than teach zoom.

You’re joking. Kids need the break and time to catch up. It will be a welcome relief.

Worry about yourself and not what other adults can do.
