Why do my car windows fog all the time?

It depends on what you use to clean. If you clean with a dry cloth or with water, then it won't have much effect.

If you use a glass cleaning product, like Windex, or various window cleaning products sold in automotive stores, many of them have a chemical that repels moisture which adds a barrier to discourage the fog (moisture) from collecting on the cleaned surface of the glass. As the chemical evaporates (slowly), the fogging effect will return until you clean the glass again, reapplying the chemical moisture repellant.

Because literally everyone else around you can figure out how to turn on the window defroster.

Should you really be driving, as someone who couldn’t figure this out? Even as a Virginia-driver?

NP. Wow, these are some a$$hole-ish answers to a simple question. I assume OP knows how to use the defroster settings and still has fogged up windows. My car has the same issue, even with the defrosters on the proper settings. We are currently having it looked at.

The mechanic said it could be that the cabin air filter need to be replaced -- if the filter is dirty, air is not getting through and the defroster will not work. Have you had your cabin air filter replaced in the last two years?

Another possible issue could be a leak somewhere in the heater core, such that warm coolant creates condensation inside the car when it mixes with the cold air in the cabin.

If your heater core was leaking you would smell it. The odor of a coolant leak is unmistakable and cannot be ignored no matter how hard you try to.

keep air moving through you vehicle at all times. Even just outside air without heat or ac and window fogging will not occur. If you have a large animal in the car, you need to increase the fan setting, this is from experience, otherwise windows will fog up quickly if a dog is panting in the back. During rain or other times defroster would be necessary. Do not use off setting, ever. Been traveling many miles for 30 years now, lots of time to perfect this.

condensation from too much moisture in the car. you need to remove buttons pp described or turn AC on with temp set for warm (you don't want cold air blowing in the winter)

Why is everyone so unhinged at OP's question? If you're going to post a non-helpful rude response don't post at all.

There must be a leak some where or trapped water. Even having wet umbrellas in the car can fog the windows with the defrosters on.
