That’s a relief. Are you sure, because they sure make it sound like it will! I’m freaking out!

OP please do not worry
They are lying

Call the medical office tell them you will sue them if they don’t straighten this out immediately and forward them the copies of your payment confirmation

Collection agencies can not do anything about medical debt when they call ignore or block

I would also write a ton of reviews online about this urgent care

P,ease no worries it’s a pain to fix but they have no power

Thanks. This whole thing just makes me feel gross. I always pay bills on time.

I actually did call the medical office and spoke to someone in billing who could see the error on their end. They claim that nobody ever properly input the payment, but that they see it as paid. They told me they have “escalated” the case to another department in the billing department and it should post in 5-7 business days, and then it should drop from collections? Does anyone know if this sounds right?

I’m truly thankful for all your help. If not for this post and your help, I’d be a nervous wreck!

Yes that sounds exactly right.

Just before Christmas, I spoke to someone on the phone and they said they saw it was paid and they would mark it as such and to disregard any further correspondence. Today I receive a letter that it was sent to collections and I have until 2/10 to dispute it! So what does this mean for my credit? How do I even prove to them that it’s paid? They gave me a number to call but they are closed.

Was it sent to a collection company or is it still with the urgent care place? Sounds like it is still at the urgent care place but will be sent to collections on 2/10. If this is the case it has not been sent to collections and will not appear on credit report.

Either way you have to respond. Get all your stuff in order- screen shoot or print out of your account showing payment, your credit card summary showing payment, date you called them, what they total you with dates, etc. Call the company but take notes- time, date and who you talked to and out come. Follow up and ask for written confirmation. It may have been moved to another department.

If it is at a collection agency Certified letter to the collection company saying the debt is not valid and ask the collection company to send proof it is your debt. Take notes on all contracts with company including any collection calls.

It was sent to collections, the letter was from them. I have until 2/10 to dispute.

I already sent the letter with proof of payment, but today called the medical office on the advice of someone who responded here, and they said they will be fixing it on their end and that the collections company will see the correction.

It’s been a frustrating week.
