Not testing until beta

Day 11dp3dt today. Declined to test yesterday. That was wise. BFN this morning. On FRER first thing in the morning. Beta tomorrow.

Not exactly some clinics test IVF betas at 9 days vx the standard 14 for iui.

isn't 9 days post 5 day transfer the same as 14?

Yes, these are equivalent.
When I did IVF and FETs through SG, they didn't schedule betas until 14 days after transfer, which was the equivalent of 19dpo. It felt like an eternity compared to those I knew at other clinics who got betas at 9 days post transfer.
For all 4 of my transfers, I tested one week out from the transfer. Actual betas confirmed the home test results in all but one case. That one (negative at home, positive beta) ended up being an ectopic with a very, very low initial beta.

Thanks for sharing this- at times when my home test is negative it feels like a waste to go into clinic for a beta but I'd want to know if there was a potential ectopic! 14 days post transfer sounds crazy!

I think OP did ivf. I was the iui poster as I have pcos and don't ovulate without meds- could do just meds plus timed intercourse but price difference was not significant.

Yes, the fact that mine was caught so early (RE was suspicious of ectopic due to doubling but incredibly low betas; ultrasound at 5w5d confirmed) meant that methotrexate was very effective, and I was able to avoid surgery. I tested negative at home at 7dp5dt, 10dp5dt, and 12dp5dt and almost canceled my beta. I'm glad I didn't.
I was unaware at the time that there's a slight elevated risk of ectopic with IVF/FET.

Not sure if it is still SG protocol, but waiting 14 days after transfer for a beta was standard at SG several years ago.

They told me not to also. I did anyway. Strong positive on day 5. I would test. Day 9 won’t tell you anything anyway. If it’s positive, you’ll have to compare day 11 beta. Good luck!

Don't post if you don't understand the biology. IUI is indicated for certain medical conditions, AND CHEAPER. So if you're younger, have all the right hormone levels, but happen to have a known issue with PCOS or physical issues at the tubal level, well, you're going to pick IUI over IVF as a first go-around, aren't you?

Go ahead and test. No reason not to! If negative now it’s pretty unlikely it’ll magically be strong positive at beta. You might at least see a faint line by now if it’s a +.

Iui is a much quicker process than IVF. My iui baby is sleeping happily at the moment. For iui I recently started letrozole on a Monday, did iui the following Tuesday and will know 10-14 days later if it worked. Less than a month. With ivf there often weeks more of testing, Ocp priming, stimulation, then retrieval and pgt testing and then waiting another 1-2 cycles. So if iui has a chance of working ( aka you just have difficulty ovulating and nothing else)- can be worth a try!
