I'm white knuckling it over here. Tomorrow am will be day 7 and I have my first beta on Wednesday (day 9). Dr, nurses everyone said pls don't test at home. I bought some bird and bees for the sensitivity and everything I've read says day 7 is pretty definitive.
I don't want to go through that Christmas morning. I also feel like you hear those one offs about people testing before beta even days 7-9 and getting a negative and it coming back positive or even worse a false positive. I don't know what I'm looking for. Just tell me not to test. I've made it this far. What is two more days. |

OP I've been in both sides of this.
Sometimes I wanted to feel "in control" and decide when I wanted to find out (ex. At home rather than getting a call at work). Other times I couldn't stand that bright white strip any more and felt PTSD about taking a pregnancy test. I was at SGF and I think the call was much later than Day 9 though. This timing is tough - good luck to you! |
| Last time I tested all it did was stress me out for several days straight thinking that I was having a chemical (I was). I could have just enjoyed that time in ignorant bliss instead. Testing early is great for a good result (I’ve had that experience too) but drags out the misery for a bad result. Do you want to take your chances with the latter? If not, then wait it out. |
| I personally would never test on Christmas. |
| I always tested, except for the first time. I didn’t want to be “surprised.” |

who/why did they say not to test?
On my successful IUI cycle I tested starting at 10 days post iui-- it was comforting watching a faint line get darker (this was after a miscarriage and multiple failed cycles including not ovulating even with the meds and timing being off). dealing with secondary infertility now. i tested last cycle and found it helpful even though it was negative-- i don't like surprises-- i had a few days to practice acceptance (like at day 10 thinking well it's still possible, by day 13 it was clear it wasn't so i wasn't experiencing any additional upset when I got the call, and frankly would rather learn negative news myself than by a phone call from some random nurse given they're never particularly helpful or warm when it's bad news) |
Yeah iui is completely different protocol than IVF. Good luck |
| Clinics always tell you not to test but I did every single time. The tests are usually pretty accurate 5dp5dt and it helped to be prepared on beta day. |
| GL! |
Not sure what this means- the process of conceiving is different but the betas ans testing is the exact same. Have done both. |
5d5pt is equivalent to 10dpo or 10 days post iui. https://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=10 |

Best wishes, OP.
I tested at home on Christmas Day. Negative. Oh well. |
NP but IUI often uses Ovidrel, which causes false positives while that is much rarer in IVF. |
True- by 10dpo usually that's out of your system but lots of people " test it out " - test daily to watch it go away to feel sure that any faint line isn't from it. |
Not exactly some clinics test IVF betas at 9 days vx the standard 14 for iui. |
