Primary care doc who takes time with patients?

Anonymous
I reluctantly joined One Medical after following my longtime PCP to her concierge practice that she ended up closing. I have been happy with Dr. Serennah Harding at the Union Station office.

I wasn't impressed with One Medical for Primary Care but I keep the membership because it's helpful for urgent care without seeing a doctor in person.

Any other hidden gem internists? Or concierge guaranteed to cost less than 3K per year? Getting desperate! In NW DC

Most concierge will be in the 1800-2500 range. 3k will definitely be on the higher end of the spectrum, although it can always go even higher than that. Start with the washingtonian top doc list, sort by dc and maryland, so a bit of research then call to see who's accepting new patients.

Why do people recommend top docs? It’s essentially an advertisement.

Clay ackerly or Lucy McBride. Cost is around $3500 a year. No insurance.

I am opposed to the idea of concierge care but I am curious to look into it after the experience I had! If anyone has recommendations for those practices.

I'm the PP at 18:31. Look at Eileen West in NOVA. She is one of the Washingtonian's Top Docs. Annual cost to join her practice is just under 3k. If you are interested contact them now -- she will likely have a waitlist soon (like most of the good concierge docs in this area). You will have a call with her office manager who will explain the practice to you, costs, what you get, etc. Then a meet and greet with the doctor to see if it is a fit.

It’s quite a bit above $3000 starting in January.

No, it isn't -- it is $3250.

It's not an advertisement. It is, however, political -- doctors recommend their peers. But yeah -- not "essentially an advertisement" at all.

Ok I stand corrected. But it’s essentially a popularity contest.
Many publications like Washington Family do these and it’s mainly who can rally the votes. I still don’t understand why people use these. Get some personal recommendations.

Washingtonian Top Docs is a "personal recommendation" -- from all of the other local doctors in that specialty. Popularity contest? Ok sure, but it's within the professional community -- not a middle school. Not sure why you are so invested in writing it off.

McBride is a nut. Never under any circumstances.

I’m curious if you’re a doctor? All the physicians I know “write it off”.

I would *not* say that as a former patient, but now she does spend most of her time doing podcasting and tv interviews. She will bump you for that. I also have had specialists try to reach her to discuss concerning findings, and they were always unsuccessful. That might be her office staff and not her. Unsure.

The new membership actually offers less for more.

Owned by Amazon now right? No thanks

I’ve liked Kelly Goodman nurse practitioners for primary care.
