I have always been happy with my primary care practice, but I am now looking for a new one after the lead doctor repeatedly dismissed a medical issue that subsequently became serious and put me in the hospital. I am so tired of going to doctors who give you 2 minutes and walk out the door as you are asking questions. I am in NW DC, so upper NW/close in MD is preferable. Anyone have recs for primary care docs that they love? |
| There’s none left in areas like the dmv except if you shell out the big bucks for concierge care. You will be lucky if you even find a primary care doctor taking new patients. |

I am opposed to the idea of concierge care but I am curious to look into it after the experience I had! If anyone has recommendations for those practices. |
| Mine does at Arlington Primary Care. Hard to schedule an appt less than 3 months in advance but when I do have one, they spend almost an hour with me and minimal waits. |
| I understand the frustration. I came very close to signing up with a concierge doctor even though I am opposed to the idea. In the end, couldn’t stomach the money but I still feel like I have no proper medical care. |
| I finally got so sick of this I went concierge. My health had suffered pretty seriously, so it was easily worth it for me. |
| Recs for practices? How is MDVIP? |
I'm the PP at 18:31. Look at Eileen West in NOVA. She is one of the Washingtonian's Top Docs. Annual cost to join her practice is just under 3k. If you are interested contact them now -- she will likely have a waitlist soon (like most of the good concierge docs in this area). You will have a call with her office manager who will explain the practice to you, costs, what you get, etc. Then a meet and greet with the doctor to see if it is a fit. |
| For concierge, I love inova VIP Ballston, but I’m pretty sure they’re on waitlist now. |
It’s quite a bit above $3000 starting in January. |
| Is Darcy Hansen still practicing? She was great. |
| Kristin Thomas. 3301 New Mexico. |
| Please more recs. Looking for someone for my 80-year-old Dad who is good health and just needs a great and reliable internist with admitting privileges. It’s impossible. Georgetown Medstar offered me two residents. We met one and they were clueless |
