Clean sweatshirt every day?

If it smells, it's dirty, and you wash it.

There are better ways to use the earth’s dwindling resources.

It still can be smelly even if not visibly soiled.

Never is, though. What is your young kid doing that gets a second layer smelly in six hours at school in winter?!

Running around in recess, playing outside can make it smelly. Kid is 9, no sign of puberty.

If kid can run around outside in December for 20 minutes and sweat through a shirt and make it smelly, then you have a sign of puberty!

Agree with others that we wash hoodies when they're visibly dirty or smelly. My second grader wears one over a tshirt every day, and it's never gotten smelly unless they spill food on it, but after a few days it gets dirty on the sleeves or front. If it still smells like laundry soap, it's still clean. Once puberty hormones kick it, we'll adjust as needed.

My kid has 4 of the exact same hoodie and wears a new one every day.

My kids hoodies are all dark. I wash them about every 1-2 weeks. Certainly not daily. She’s wearing a shirt underneath.

Only if it smells or is visibly dirty. Otherwise why bother?

Everyday, or they stink.

It depends on the kid and what they are doing. I have teens and they don’t have body odor, so hoodies are washed when they get soiled or once a week, whichever happens first. We all lack the body odor gene in my family.

This. They don’t wear them all day, and I wouldn’t was their winter coats after every wear.

Ive never encountered a smelly hoodie in my house. Oldest is 8. We wash them 1x a week. It's more of a jacket than a shirt imo.

Yeah, I buy duplicates of favorite items too. It saves me time shopping.

My kids don't wear the same hoodie everyday, but I could see how a kid with 2-3 duplicate hoodies might appear to wear the same hoodie everyday.

Teacher here. Please wash the hoodies, daily. Those hoodies are worn most of the day and although you do not see visible dirt, they sneeze in their sleeves, other kids nasty hands or booger fingers touch their hoodie, the hoodies get thrown on the floor when taken off and stepped on by others. It goes beyond “smelling.” That is like saying, my breath does not stink so I can pass on brushing my teeth.

Thats what I thought but I noticed some kids wear the same hoodie every day.

We buy multiples of clothes when I know DC is going to want to wear everyday - that way they can and we don’t have to wash each night. A more stylish kid might do something different, but since I know will just keep wearing same, buying multiple of same thing is helpful.

Once a week unless it gets a stain. I think washing more often would wear it out. I haven’t noticed odor (it’s always over t-shirts, which are washed daily).

My kid is less smelly than yours so 2-4 times.
