Wharton - what’s the typical profile of a dmv kid who gets in?

Anonymous
Know one super athlete/student - but not recruited and not hooked.

A smart Jewish girl with no hooks and no stand out ECs. Nice girl/family

I know 3:
-rowing commit
-URM who started a small scale, interesting non-profit
-Asian who started a massive non-profit with a volunteer network of hundreds of youth in multiple states plus completed about 4 different internships, etc. Basically entered college with a resume better than mine and I'm 49.

I know two recent admits, both were recruited athletes and good students with high test scores.

Why does the school maintain a desirable standing if they mainly accept legacy, staff children, athletes only?

People want to attend because it’s “elite,” but they are just picking people associated with the school or that have athletic ability.

What’s the typical Wharton admit profile from here?

Triple legacy + full pay + ED

Our kid got in 2 years ago without hooks, but was a good applicant overall. Can’t talk about the Penn experience though because he chose elsewhere

He chose Duke, but it was a very close call and he liked many aspects of both.

I don’t know any Wharton admits.

The few kids I know of were athletes and URMs. I also know a few unhooked super smart Asian kids. For all the kids who get rejected, a few do make it.

DD is very interested in Duke, how does your son like it?

What if you just have good grades and a 1420?

Please know that this reply is not to undermine the kids, 99% are super solid students. It's just happens to be where Penn is leaning these days with admits from our circles (and I have no complaints).

W school admit not legacy that is bunk the DmV believes. Not a minority. Male

Let me guess: soccer player?

Athletic recruit needs a minimum SAT for Wharton. I think it might be 1500, not sure. Doesn't seem to be a minimum for normal UPenn athletes as I know one with 1100 SAT.
