Not sick enough to need care...but need periodic wellness checks

I would engage a local company for the minimum now.

Btdt and that’s just what I would do. It’s important work and the people who do it are worth the hourly fee. Plus, they will be more reliable than people doing favors of any age.

However, facing daily the possibility of encountering an adult in medical crisis sounds like a lot to ask of a high school kid, as does being a “companion” to an unrelated middle aged man. I think you’ll have a hard time finding a kid who wants to do this and whose parents allow it. I wouldn’t have, to be honest.

Is there any possibility your work will work with you on a different schedule?

I would not have a High Schooler responsible for this. It could be just fine, but you just never know what they might walk into and without a medical background or understanding of what to do I would be very uncomfortable of a parent of that high schooler. For my mom, we installed cameras, altered our schedules we also have many retired neighbors that have been more than happy to stop in for lunch, a quick "hello" visit etc. So sorry you are going through this right now.
