Antisemitic social media posts

The cartoon in particular, which implies that Israelis are targeting babies, is pretty standard blood libel. The other stuff is not particularly problematic, though foolish to post given MCPS’s social media guidelines.

It’s fact that Israel was transferring Al Shifa and that there were dozens of babies in the ICU there that had to be rescued, many of whom died. This is well documented in the media. That caring is absolutely fair game. Nothing in those posts is antisemitic and there is nothing antisemitic about criticizing Israel.

Targeting not transferring.

No it isn’t. It’s legitimate criticism of a country at war. The message from the school way overstepped.

Those seem to be political statements, not hateful ones. Not saying I agree with them, but it’s a shared political cartoon critical of Israel’s military operation targeting a hospital (in which children DID die) and a couple of strong pro-Palestinian statements. Conflating that with antisemitism is a stretch, although I have noticed that there are some who conflate any statement that isn’t 100% pro-Israel to be “antisemitism.” Some even conflate silence with “antisemitism,” probably because people stood by silently 75 years ago…. But not everyone is as informed on the situation to feel like they can express an opinion.

Let's take a look at some of the other tweets from that Twitter account, shall we? And at who that Twitter account is asking for help to make their tweets go viral? Including someone who homeschools their kids but is nonetheless suing MCPS about a BoE meeting related to MCPS curriculum?

Yes, I am very on line, but so is whoever is responsible for that Twitter account, and unlike them, I don't propagate hate.

"Clean Slate Moco" is one of the group of social media accounts whose purpose is to hate everything in Montgomery County. And yes, the messenger is relevant here.
To be fair, there's a lot to hate.

I'd be concerned with antisemitism too, but this seems like criticism of a war.

How is cheer on someone denying a group their constitutional right to protest "legitimate criticism".

The First Amendment says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

It does not say anything about the obligation of bus drivers to transport people to peaceable assemblies.

In what way is it hate speech or antisemitism? In what way is it against all Jews?

Exactly and the bus driver tried to deny them that right. Protests are protected under the 1st amendment right. He can't deny people their constitutional rights.

I saw the messages.

None of them are anti-Semitic. They are anti-Israel, and specifically criticize the bombing of the Al-Shifa hospital, which has a NICU unit for premature babies.

MCPS is using anti-discrimination rules to discipline this teacher, which is entirely appropriate, since the teacher posted anti-Israel content.

Do I agree with the teacher's opinions? I absolutely do! Would a teacher posting anti-Palestinian content get noticed like this? I think not!

Two things can be true:
1. This teacher shouldn't have posted such content, even though their feelings are legitimate and history will not be kind to Israel's disproportionate response in Gaza and its oppression of the Palestinian people.
2. The school system can pick and choose which discriminatory posts to investigate. Which is, in itself, discrimination!

A lot of support for Hamas in this thread. Sadly not surprising.

Which discriminatory posts did they not investigate?
