How am I supposed not not wash my hair every day if I’m supposed to shower every day?

This is also what I do.

I mean come on, OP, really?

I don't even bother with a shower cap - I just put my hair in a bun on top of my head and don't let it get under the spray of the shower. My body showers are quick.

Just don’t wear your shower cap in public lest you be posted about on DCUM!

OP, are you an idiot? Have you ever heard of a SHOWER CAP?

Enough with the idiocy.

Well. Shampooing daily may be just fine for your specific hair and scalp type. Mine was always fine. But I’ve gotten older and lazier, so no longer do it.

I take a shower everyday, it's exactly the same each day except I don't wash my hair. I do get it wet. It's really very simple. I don't even understand the question.

It may be fine for you to wash your hair daily. Mine hair and scalp are fine if I choose to wash daily. I sweat a lot in winter and summer from heavy workouts, wearing hats on dog walks etc., so it often feels gross not to wash my scalp and it can get dandruffy easily. My hair is curly but too fine to cowash, so I just use a gentle shampoo and thicker conditioner so it doesn’t dry things out. I can go longer between washes in spring and fall seasons.

If I am skipping a wash, I just put it in a loose top knot. I still have to do some styling if I’m not going to twist it into a low bun. Not washing doesn’t save me much time.

I’m AA with short natural hair. I cowash daily and only shampoo once or twice a week.

OP, you can make your own cowash with your favorite conditioner and some warm water.

PP you're quoting - I had never heard the term cowash, but yes, that's exactly it! Thanks for teaching me something new

I have fairly thin, curly hair that flattens out when I sleep, so unless I want to wear a ponytail, cowashing it is. But if you (OP) have straight hair, a shower cap is probably the easiest way to go.

It's harder with short hair, unless you use a shower cap which I've only ever used about twice in 50+ years. With long hair I just pull it up with a clip like PPs have suggested.

Short hair is more prone to bed head and harder to style without wetting or washing.

OP I have the same issue. My hair is pretty short and I have bangs - and when I wash my face some of it gets in my hair. Anyway, I wash almost every day. These other techniques don't work for me, including the shower cap

This. If I'm not shampooing I just wet my hair and style as usual.

I wash my hair every day when I shower. My hair is healthy and just fine. I cannot not wash it. Because when I wash my face the edges of my hair get wet and if I don’t wash the rest of my hair, then my hair looks really bad the rest of the day.

I pull mine up in a high bun and then wrap my head in my (dry) hair towel to cover/protect it. And just avoid putting my head under the water. Shower cap would work too, but I find this gives the most coverage.

I work out every day, so I just condition and rinse my hair, no shampoo (1x a week I shampoo). For people that think they have to shampoo because hair is fine, straight and oily, you have to slowly train your hair. So freeing.
