+1. I love mizuno. You do need to get her fit though. Many people overpronate or underpronate. The wrong shoes and sometimes not having orthotics can lead to lots of injuries if you are running moderate to high mileage. She can go with what’s cool with spikes since you only race in them and they all offer zero support anyway.

Mizunos are great - a bit heavy but extremely durable

Probably most durable running shoes from the major brands

They started making them in pretty colors. I think they look better on the shelf than on feet.

I always think of New Balance when I think of runners. It’s a classic brand.

Brooks is the best selling running brand but mostly for middle aged and senior citizen eeekend warriors

Kids and young adults don’t run in brooks

The lineup kind of sucks also - besides Hyperion max and Hyperion elite

DD is on HS track and runs in Brooks. Her spikes are New Balance.

Mizunos destroyed my feet. Saucony works best for me.
So OP, take her to get fitted, don’t just buy shoes because they are “cool”. Especially if she is running a lot.

On clouds are HORRIBLE for really running

They are airport dad shoes

Hoka is good but they’ve actually fallen behind compared to 5-10 years ago

OP’s kid should watch “Beleive in the Run” - a running YouTube Channel from Baltimore - the co owner is a woman named Meghan and she’s great.

Right now imo the best running shoe rotation is from adidas

Adios Pro 3 for long distance, takumi sen 9 for short speed work, and Boston 12 for daily training/recovery

On has at least 15 different styles! They make some for tennis, running, walking, cross, training, etc.

OP- I would bet that most kids have done the research. You could look on your own, or just probably go with ine of the brands most kids have, but definitely get fitted at a running store.

My teen DD requested all white Hokas for her birthday. She says they are the best shoes ever. Just keep the receipt!

DD and lots of girls on her team run in Brooks too. It's about performance for sports, not fashion.

There are an awful lot of $170 “airport dad shoes” at our ES pickup.

DS runs cross country. His running shoes are also Brooks. I think his spikes are Nike but can’t remember.

1000% this. On clouds are AWFUL to run on even though they are advertised as a running shoe. I don’t even really like walking in mine.

They have absolutely no support. They’re fine for weightlifting but if your kid is a runner they need actual running shoes.

Why do so many people pay the massive On Cloud price tag if they are so bad? I see them everywhere (on adults mostly.)

Which ones specifically do you have? I've tried several and I much prefer them to other shoes. I doubt you've tried them all. I just went back to them after dismal performing Hokas (too much arch support, felt uncomfortable) and Brooks (wore out too quickly). Everyone's feet are different.

Because PP doesn't know what they are talking about.

I didn’t buy them for running but they’re not really good for anything. I have no desire to try any more. I can find a much better shoe.

I have more actual running shoes that I need. I’m an ASICS girl and have been for decades. Gel Kayano
