| It is just like how people thank their mom after an accomplishment or achievement. It is about who they felt supported them and gave them the motivation or strength or ability to do what they did. |
Except moms actually do those things. |
“…who they felt supported them…” You don’t get to police how people feel. What is your issue, really? If you are an atheist and just don’t get how/why other people choose to believe in a god, just say it. And if that’s how you feel, do you think other people should be policing how you feel? How you live? Of course not. So why do you think you can do that to others? |
| I find it incredibly weird and inappropriate when someone wins something and thanks Jesus. Praying in advance is fine - you can pray for courage and so on - but thanking Jesus for a win suggests that you think Jesus chose you to win over the other person or team. Like, "Jesus likes me better." |
It's not at all. Moms support one person and definitely wanted that person to win. Suggesting Jesus chose sides is incredibly arrogant and definitely a sin. |
|
He is all powerful, yet can't keep children from getting horrifically painful diseases that slowly kill them.
Yet he's helping you win at football. Sure sure. |
So you ignored everything everybody has said so far, to post another ugly attack on religion. Being a hateful obsessive is not a great look for atheists. |
You might want to share that sentiment with the "new atheist" OP. |
| I’m glad they’re thanking God. It shows some humility and is frankly preferable to the total narcissism that dominates most aspects of popular culture. I don’t think most think Jesus interfered in the world to cause the touchdown or whatever, but rather thank Him (or whatever higher power) for the incredible gifts the athlete has. |
So you've ignored everything in the post you are responding to, to post another ugly attack on reason. Being a hateful obsessive is not a great look for Christians. /see how useless posts like this are? Try responding with substance, try persuading on the merits, instead of ad hominems and platitudes. |
I'm secure in my beliefs. Are you? Doesn't sound like it. |
Prayer is a form of meditation and studies show those that meditate do better in sports and work and home. So prayer did actually do those things. |
I totally agree, I mean how does the opponent feel/think? This didn’t have time for them that day? |
But what about the team that lost? |
I totally agree, I mean how does the opponent feel/think? That Jesus didn’t have time for them that day? |
