| I was a shy introvert who was afraid of the ball. I swam through middle school and high school, started rowing in high school and rowed all four years in college - that is where i found my people. I think cross country and rock climbing would be similar vibes |
| Volleyball was great for my Shy DD! |
| Cross country is a great sport for shy kids. |
| Does she even want to do sports? |
That’s what I was going to say. It’s super agressive! I was a swimmer at hated when we played it “for fun”. I would have rather kept swimming. My vote is track/cross country or swim. You compete as a team but you don’t have to be assertive the way you do for team sports. You do have to have a high tolerance for repetitive activity and being alone with your thoughts. I feel like most introverts are this way. |

Two kids in swim, soccer, rowing and bball. Swim is very social! It’s a good mix between an individual and team sport. |
I have four kids (two that are playing in college), that play water polo. This is an intense sport and requires a ton of interaction and emotional intelligence to play well, beyond the physical. |
Everyone should find something they like to do to keep moving. How about hiking or walking. Going outdoors and birdwatching could be an option. |
I agree about finding something they like to do, and that exercise is good. But I’m not sure why OP needs ideas for a teen/tween. Mine is 11 and I follow her lead, she is sporty bit I let her choose at this age. If OPs kid needs ideas I’m guessing this is something OP wants, not her kid. |
| Are there dance teams ? |
Yes |
Are you 3 years old? |
| Are you looking for a team sport or an individual sport where kids are organized into teams? Sounds like in general your kid may be happier with an individual sport - although maybe dance team or sailing would work as a team sport. |
| I wasn’t into physically aggressive sports with balls but enjoyed rowing on a crew team. It’s a lot of physical hard work and a team sport but you aren’t going to get injured by a ball coming at your face or an elbow in your jaw. |
