The food is there. He can rewarm it like a big boy.
My goodness, OP, seriously? It sounds like you have bigger problems to deal with. |
This is also what I would do. One night a week maybe you can make something in crockpot and leave it at keep warm for him. |
| Don't try to keep it warm for 2 hours! Much better to let it cool and reheat. |

Trying to keep food warm for 2-3 hours will absolutely cause it to be dried out.
I'd either: -Plate up, cover, refrigerate and he can microwave when hes ready -Make most things, but save his and he can cook it fresh (ie you make 3 salmon filets for you and the kids and rice/veggies, save him 1 filet that you/he throw in the oven when he gets home and its ready when hes showered) |
Does he expect a plated dinner when he gets home, and do you want to give him one? When we have family members coming home at different times, we put everything away and let them assemble their own plate, heat it, then add cold elements (salad etc). No one expects to have a plated meal for them ready for them. If you intend on a plated dinner, then assemble it from leftovers when he gets home and heat. I’m not going to judge. My husband and kids prefer to do it themselves because they can then choose their portion sizes. And I obviously prefer that they do it themselves as well. And when I come home late, I absolutely do not want to be handed a plate with too much beef, not enough vegetables, etc. I want to make it myself. |
| You don't. You feed you and the kids and he has leftovers or what ever when he gets home. Done. |
