Drunk Elephant?

Stupid fad brand.

My kid started shopping at Sephora and developed severe skin allergies a month later. I have no proof of cause/effect, of course, but... I really regret agreeing. It took multiple visits to allergist to convince her to return to Cetaphil/Aquaphor.

She currently washes her face with cetaphil and occasionally uses a light moisturizer--can't remember what is was but we bought it at the drugstore. If you or your kid uses these products, what would you buy for a 12 year old with perfect skin?

You let your kid on TikTok?

Because that's probably where she saw it if she's asking for it by name.

If you’re set on buying it, OP, Costco occasionally carries it online.

This explains why my 18 year old was asking to borrow mine recently.

Same here for my 12 year old. She still pushes for DE but I refuse to spend that kind of money on products for myself!

I've been using DE for over 8 years. Great results, but no my DD doesn't need it. She uses one product (its not an age defying one obviously) that I got in a sample.

No, she does not even have a phone or iPad. She is hearing about it at school. (To my knowledge, while come of her friends have phones, none are on TikTok except for one friend and she definitely is not the type to be into skincare.)

My 11YO put it on her Christmas list. I'm not sure what we will do.

I tried a sample set of this brand and hated everything.

This is the inevitable result of influencer culture/marketing -- the ascension of a brand like Drunk Elephant.

I tried a few products and didn't even like them, let alone love them, and it is expensive as hell. But if it is what your DD wants and you can afford it, I say get it for her. I like the idea of young women focusing on self-care and if it makes her happy, it makes her happy.

Yeah, it's worth talking to your kids over and over again about influencers.
Most teens don't like to be duped but it takes a while to realize that so much of social media is actually advertising.

My 13 year old is also asking for it bc some of her friends’ parents buy this crap and I refuse to. She got a Sephora gift card recently though and I’m trying to convince her not to blow it on the latest fad.

I hope this isn’t the way you’re presenting it to your 13 year old because if so you’re just going to make her want it more.

PP here. I’ve said nothing. Sephora is so overwhelming for her, when she goes in, she wants lots of things but realizes quickly her money will usually only allow her to get one or two, maybe three things. And she always wants more than one, so DE doesn’t usually make the cut. Lol
