Sober Friends

The judgement is funny. Easily at least half of white professional women over 45 in DC are ingesting THC.

I’m that 40 year old college friend who is AA sober after psych wards and rehab. I manage my own sobriety and with 10 years have no issue with hanging with people who drink. If I’m in a group setting I maybe the first person to go to bed or leave at 10pm but that’s just because I get bored. Being around people actively smoking weed is a little tougher for me, I will only do it in an outdoor setting but if I feel uncomfortable I walk away.

You do you. Honestly I dislike when my friends who usually drink don’t drink around me, because they aren’t use to socializing without alcohol and that can be a buzz kill.

I go on vacations with a mix of friends with different drinking and thc habits; it’s never been a big deal. Just don’t make a big deal over it and don’t plan on it being a heavy drinking weekend

Really? What are the results they see via their watch?

What is heavy drinking? Am I not supposed to have two beers on the beach, a drink at HH and a glass of wine with dinner? Is that too much on vacation? Who eve thinks to count their friend's drinks?

Gummies yes, smoking no.

I am mid-40s and also quit drinking a few months ago to see if I felt better overall. It wouldn’t bother me to be on vacation with a friend who drinks. It’s their vacation too! No issues at all unless you give me a hard time about NOT drinking.

I’m curious about this as well. Anyone?

DH tracks his sleep and notices he sleeps better when not drinking. Not sure what other apps people are using though

I do mind being around people who are obviously drunk or intoxicated. They just are not pleasant to be around and they are not as amusing as they think they are.

If you are 50 and still getting loudly, excessively drunk, then you do have a problem and people will not want to be an around you. But having a drink and some wine? Nobody cares.

+1

Literally no suggested this. You sounds defensive and I wonder if you are questioning your own drinking habits.

Don’t smoke around others
Second hand smoke is an issue for many

Np. Who did dry January and kept it rolling on the same app. I've gone from about 2-3 drinks 2-3 nights a week plus much more on vacation to an average of 5 drinks a week including vacation because I saw the data and I made it easy. Resting heart rate and tossing and turning during sleep were biggest. Then I got curious about my blood pressure (which was inching up) and it was firmly in normal range too

Found the flickering bulb. Literally every post in here is about appropriate versus inappropriate drinking?

For me - Sleep quality (specifically amount of deep sleep), resting heart rate, heart rate variability.
