How do middle school conferences typically work?

Our school has the kid lead the conference with support from their advisor. We signed up for a time on the advisor’s calendar.

I’ve had separate conversations with teachers and with the advisor as needed.

Our school offers the option to have a conference with their homeroom teacher if you want one and that would be more over-arching social emotional type of feedback.

I have no reason, but feel I need to go? Do parents not attend?

Two kids in MS, 8th & 6th. We haven't had one yet.

You only have them "if necessary". It's only if your child is struggling or falling behind or behaving poorly.

This isn't like ES when you "get to know the teacher"

If your kid is doing well, I would not expect to have any conferences

My kids are in 9th, 8th, and 6th. I’ve only ever had one middle school PT conference - and it was because my child was struggling (math). Regular conferences just to check-in are not the norm at our middle school.

It was like speed dating, same with high school. 10 minutes with each teacher. If it's a large school do not book them back to back.

And each teacher was basically, "why are you here? kid is fine, doing well."
