I don't blame kids for getting it wrong at all. There is so much hype and pressure and the schools (for the most part) don't do much to present the reality of life there as a student.

You have to visit.
My kid had his heart set on one school. Swore it was the only place he would consider. Spent a weekend with a buddy there and quickly decided it wasn’t for him. Glad he visited and spent an entire weekend getting a feel for it. He’s happier at a much different school (huge flagship). |
