IVF for #9???

But my parents would also say that is utterly crazy. And while everyone is free to make the decisions they want, it seems tone deaf for this couple to be in an infertility support group. It definitely makes them seem like a naecissist if they can’t see that. It reminds me a little of something Hilario Baldwin would do.

This part!

But also, sounds very dangerous. Like we need religious fanatics to have more and more even beyond their biological capabilities.

Maybe they aren't religious but have a family farm.

Are you 5 years old? Because "middle class income" today isn't a middle class income in 1970s.

Oh very religious Christians definitely do pursue IVF. I was in a support group with many. Several of them were young (in their 20s) with PCOS and produced huge numbers of embryos in their cycles, and then decided they had to implant ALL their embryos (not in one cycle, but in FETs for later pregnancies). They should really think about counseling younger people to only fertilize a small number of eggs at a time. It's nuts to end up with 12 frozen embryos and feel like you have to have all these kids!

They can do what they want, but being in an infertility support group after 8 kids indicates they are not mentally balanced, to put it nicely.

Wild to me. Most people doing IVF are desperate for one living child but honestly not anyone’s business in the end.

Where did you got the info that the person is religious?

I know someone raising 10 children on a firefighter and teacher salary, all kids are smart and very well behaved.

Coming back to update. Met a different lady today super upset about not being able to have child #7. Like WTF? Come on now. IVF for child #7 is just non sense.

We don't need updates. Can you post this on BabyCenter or somewhere like that? Most of us in this forum are struggling to have our first or second. These outliers using IVF for their 7th, 8th, 9th kid aren't struggling with the fertility issues we are.

Time to let this thread die, but also, I don’t believe OP met two women doing IVF to get babies number 9 and 7. Maybe OP found people with those stories in an online support forum or something but you didn’t “meet” them.

MYOB. For a lot of people IVF is nonsense, for some people even IVG for #9 is acceptable. Focus on your own life.

I don’t think this is totally far fetched. I know several large families where some of the children are adopted.

Some parents are drawn to have lots of children. While it isn’t my cup of tea, they tend to be fantastic parents. I am a two and done type but in my Catholic circles know many families with 7+ kids.
