Is ‘girlfriend’ offensive?

What does she call you?

If she is bringing this up it’s a red flag.

Label or honorific. It’s not really a “title.”

Whatever. Are you one of those annoying people who has to ‘correct’ everyone all the time?

No way. That conveys even less information than girlfriend and makes him sound like a homosexual.

+1
if she is hot, go ahead and have some short term fun, but she is not LTR material if she is policing how you speak.

Come on. He's introducing her to people as a "girl." Presumably she's an adult and therefore a "woman." What he's doing is pretty demeaning, and the fact that he doesn't see that should concern her.

SO? Partner? Love interest? Potential?

Duh!

May be she prefers fiancée?

This is Jane Smith, my lover.

It sounds like she objected to being referred to as a girl, not being called your girlfriend. Those are separate complaints. If it’s girl she don’t like, use woman. If it’s girlfriend, ask how she wants to define your relationship.

This is my boo, Jane.

With an attitude like that, just introduce her as you "B&C" (ball and chain).

Yep. More of people looking for something to be offended at. Instant demotion to FWB.
