Crap I have family history of pancreatic cancer and took ozempic.

I believe the concern with Ozympic was a link to a specific kind of inherited thyroid cancer, not pancreatic cancer. But check on that I may be mistaken.

I think that's right--thyroid cancer and pancreatitis not pancreatic cancer.

Dear God do not get your health advice from DCUM, particularly with respect to weight.

I just read a thoughtful physician commentary on the profound fear of pancreatitis in the public with these meds but she pointed out that weight loss and gallstones raise the risk of pancreatitis and if you would not worry about weight loss from say going plant based or going on weight watchers (which could result in wt loss and gallstones right?) Then you probably should not worry excessively with these meds. If you have symptoms, seek medical care obviously. There is also genetic testing for pancreatic cancer and if you need monitoring, you can get it. She also noted that this class of drugs has an 18 year history of being prescribed...not new to many endocrinologist. This helped me calm down...on ozempic for pre diabetes/weight loss.

My gastro said that if I decided to stay on ozempic long term and there was pancreatic cancer risk, there are ways to do ongoing monitoring. Be aware that some dara is suggesting these meds are protective against various cancers, that they improve the immunity that often decreases due to obesity. It may help reduce pancreatic cancer which while devastating is also not a common cancer.
