Semaglutides do have a risk for pancreatitis (why I won't take them--had it once and it was brutal, not to mention dangerous). Chronic pancreatitis is linked to pancreatic cancer, but I don't think acute is.
I just read a thoughtful physician commentary on the profound fear of pancreatitis in the public with these meds but she pointed out that weight loss and gallstones raise the risk of pancreatitis and if you would not worry about weight loss from say going plant based or going on weight watchers (which could result in wt loss and gallstones right?) Then you probably should not worry excessively with these meds. If you have symptoms, seek medical care obviously. There is also genetic testing for pancreatic cancer and if you need monitoring, you can get it. She also noted that this class of drugs has an 18 year history of being prescribed...not new to many endocrinologist. This helped me calm down...on ozempic for pre diabetes/weight loss.
