How big is your house/sump pump needs? Is this just the sump motor and not all the associated pipes to get it out of the house? Call around and get quotes - plumbers do this so you don't necessarily have to get the flood specialists...
Big name places will quote a ton of money but you can call a plumber and we got a replacement sump (not the battery backup) for $550 from a local plumber that we found in local Renovate Nova forum with good reviews. We had this happen in 2021 just 2 weeks after moving into our house and we had never had a sump pump before - backup sump battery died first (you can totally replace yourself because it is just pulling out the RV/marine battery and putting in a new one - you can get battery from most places (home depot, auto parts etc) although we actually went to an RV place to get the exact same battery because we knew nothing about sump pumps). Then the sump motor float stopped working 2 weeks later and burned through the motor which stopped a few days after we fixed the float. We had a few dry days when motor died but a huge storm was coming in 3-4 days over the weekend and had to get someone there before the rain came. Big place quoted us a 'discounted first time customer' rate of $1500 or so just for the motor replacement and not sure if they could get to us in time but may have an emergency rush fee. Plumber came out within 2 days and the sump pumps they use were actually the exact same sump that we had. The battery replacement should not be much more - mainly is cost of the battery. |
PP here re: the $550 pump replacement. Scrolled too fast to see your clarification - if it is just the pump, call around for more plumbers. Depending on where you live, check more local forums for specific recommendations and reviews (eg Leesburg/Nova/ffx or other MD etc). We had a zoeller as well and didn't need the back up pump replaced, just the actual battery for the back up which we replaced the battery ourselves. You definitely don't need to pay $3k. |
