Best brands for blazers (for women)?

I know my perfect fit in Katherine Hooker and order when on sale. The sale colors are always classic/not weird. Even on sale, the jacket is being made for me.

For that price, i would expect i'm buying a baller blazer that looks like i'm the powerplayer in a meeting. Those blazers do not look like that in real life though.

They cost more because:
a) to pay for all the marketing
b) because being expensive is part of the marketing

I literally like my Veronica Beard jacket better because it’s more expensive than I would otherwise spend but still within reach. It creates a bias. We’re all monkeys okay cut me some slack.

Other things I like better even though it’s dumb:
1) expensive jeans even when they are ugly
2) clothes that are slightly too small for me (clothes that actually fit me are suspect)
3) clothes that are dramatically discounted (I can do this at the same time as the expensive thing in fact they work better when combined).

I actually find the material on a lot of Veronica beard blazers to look cheap. I was also going to recommend Brooks brothers. You need to weed through their stuff so it doesn’t look old lady, but you can’t beat their classic navy, and in the fall and winter they generally have one or two great tweed or wool/camel hair option. Their fabrics are excellent

Veronica beard stuff is about on par with Express quality. Looks way cheaper in real life than even banana and jcrew blazers.

IT’S SO GOOD.

I absolutely love it. Looks amazing. Very easy to maintain.

How can I identify a good blazer if it's not from a high-end brand? If you were to save up to buy one blazer which one would you buy (to go with mostly black pants and skirts)?

Look for good fabric, smooth lining and a tailored fit in the shoulders and back. For one versatile blazer, I’d pick a classic navy or charcoal—it goes well with black pants and skirts.

OP, I also really like Veronica Beard blazers - the double breasted style creates a nice waist on me. I stalk their clothes on The Real Real and generally pay about 50% of the retail price. I've also recently gotten some crazy deals on off-season pieces from Saks - like 70-80% off a VB coat and blouse.

Wow, this is great advice. I always assumed they were out of my price range. Never occurred to me to try the Real Real. Thank you!

Same here—I never thought to check The Real Real either. Definitely giving it a look now!

DP, but I have also had some pretty good success finding blazers on eBay.
